Pittier a constatépour tous les étages de végétation sur le pourtour de la montagne deslimites inférieures à celles quadmettait le savant américain : la culture dumaïs est poussée sur les pentes jusquà 2255 mètres, les champs de pommesde terre montent jusquà 2700 mètres.
