  • Scope and content: Letter from Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation Inspectors Edward Stuart and Joseph A. Moddy thanking E. F. James, Deputy Collector of Customs at Port San Luis Obispo for the detailed report of December 23, 1941 relating to the attack and sinking of the S. S. Montebello. Included in the letter is the notification that certain crew members were to report to San Pedro for the purpose of making statements before the Marine Investigation Board relative to the sinking.
