Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band was pleased to support today's Summer Fayre at Drakies Primary School - our local school as it is just down the road from (Divisional) Police HQ at Old Perth Road. Although hail, thunder and goodness knows what else was forecast, the Band played in roasting sunshine for our first performance, and an hour or so later when we played our second and final stint, there was only a hint of rain (which was actually very welcome to cool the day down a little). It was nice to be able field a good-sized band to support the School's fundraising - 8 pipers, 4 snare drummers and one bass, especially as our youngest drummer Ryan is currently a final year pupil there, and his big brother Shaun also is a former pupil (as are Band Secretary Dave's kids). The many comments forthcoming concerning the band's quality of sound and appearance were also music to my ears, and the commitment of the players to turn out to support this good cause event was greatly appreciated by all! It was also a wonderful gesture by Ryan + Shaun's family to take a stall themselves to raise funds for the Band, and we greatly appreciate their efforts and the support of folk who attended, in raising a very commendable sum which will help considerably in keeping the band afloat. |
