Summary
[edit]DescriptionNon-hemiplasy example.svg |
English: Example of a kind of apparent incomplete lineage sorting. The diagram shows three species, A, B and C, and one gene, G, with two versions (alleles), G0 and G1. The ancestor of A, B and C originally had only the G0 version of gene G. When species A split off, both it and the ancestor of B and C retained G0. When B and C diverged, C retained G0 but B acquired the mutated version G1. Some time later, G1 was transferred from B to A by some means (e.g. hybridization, horizontal gene transfer). Studying only the final states of G in the three species makes it appear that A and B are sisters rather than B and C. Compare to File:Hemiplasy example.svg. |
