Description 09/62, Brush Falcon Works build number 342, the very first Class 47 locomotive, was rolled out. In the British Railways fleet as D1500, and later in the British Rail fleet as 47401, No.342 saw almost 30 years of service and was finally withdrawn in June of 1992. Preserved at the Midland Railway Centre.
