Summary
[edit]DescriptionNo.1 Gunwharf Quays and Oliver Cromwell - geograph.org.uk - 1421697.jpg |
English: No.1 Gunwharf Quays and Oliver Cromwell I like the concept of photographs which are unique or have an extremely slim chance of ever being replicated.
With No.1 Gunwharf Quays in the background, No.70013 "Oliver Cromwell" had just reversed into platform 5 of Portsmouth Harbour station with a return working to London Victoria. Steam workings to this station are rare, and arouse much interest; in fact there was a station announcement encouraging people to see this locomotive. The chance of replicating this picture with any steam locomotive is slim, especially since I was standing on a train awaiting departure from platform 4; the photograph was taken through the open doors. http://www.nrm.org.uk/collections/loco/olivercromwell.asp |
