Description
English: Nicolae Grigorescu - Nimfă dormind, ulei pe pânză, 46,5 x 76 cm, semnat dreapta jos, cu roșu, Grigorescu.

Opera a făcut parte din celebra colecție Ernest Edmond Goodwin, bancher, director adjunct al Banque du Roumanie până în 1910. Opera a participat la a doua expoziție personală Nicolae Grigorescu, 1887, Palatul Eforiei, menționată în capitolul XI al monografiei “Viața și opera pictorului N.I. Grigorescu“, Alexandru Vlahuță, SOCEC, 1910, pp. 122-129. La începutul secolului al XX-lea, opera era expusă trunchiat, cca. 16 cm lungime ai suprafeței stângi a picturii, reprezentând colțul întunecat al pădurii, fiind pliați pe șasiu; o restaurare ulterioară a operei a recuperat această porțiune clasicistă a operei, redând-o circulației în formatul conceput de Grigorescu. Opera este reprodusă în Calendarul Minervei, 1908, sub titlul “Studiu“. Opera este reprodusă în monografia “Nicolae Grigorescu“, Nicolae Petrașcu, București, 1930, sub titlul “Dormind“, planșa 20, pag. 85.
