Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Nical Building, Shoreditch High Street, London. The art deco frontage hides a complex of construction work over several centuries. Nicholls and Clarke occupied a large area behind and to the side of their prestigious showroom. The land is an ancient scheduled monument covering the precinct of the Priory and Hospital of St Mary Spital dating back to 1197. The right hand half of this building is a 1937 steel frame and concrete construction. The art deco front in cream faience tiles was extended to the left to cover the 1897 building which included the clock. The building to the left was, in the last decade, an atomic art/information centre known as B.A.N.G.
