Summary
[edit]DescriptionNewcastleton Forest - The Border Stane - geograph.org.uk - 828910.jpg |
English: Newcastleton Forest - The Border Stane in Newcastleton Forest. This sculpture is part of the Red Cycle trial in Newcastleton Forest and is one of 7 sculptures across south and central Scotland on the world famous 7Stanes XC Mountain Bike courses.
The sculpture resembles the tail fin of an aircraft and faces north - south. On the north side, representing Scotland, Auld Lang Syne is inscribed and on the south side, representing England, the words of Jerusalem. The highlight of the stane is that it stands right on the border between Scotland and England. The hole in the middle allows people to stand on either side of the border and shake hands through the stane. |
