Description
English: These are new diamonds at the intersection of a Norfolk Southern Railway double main line (= lower right to upper left) and a CSX Transportation double main line (= upper right to lower left) in Marion, Ohio on 1 October 2023. The previous diamonds were in poor shape, despite attention from maintenace-of-way crews. This replacement set of diamonds was installed during the last week of September 2023. The new diamonds are fantastic - each axle from passing trains depresses the rails only a tiny bit. The old diamonds depressed quite a bit under each axle.
