Summary
[edit]DescriptionNew River Humber Defences - geograph.org.uk - 12438.jpg |
English: New River Humber Defences, Paull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The picture shows part of the new River Humber defences near Paull, East Riding of Yorkshire. A new embankment was constructed a couple of years ago running parallel to the existing river defences some further 400m or so further inland. A deliberate breach was put in the original defences and the tide is allowed to flow in and out of the new area created. Apparently this aids with flood resistance and also creates a habitat for many birds and wildlife! The picture was taken looking south eastwards at MR: TA18102480 and shows the new artificial tidal lagoon. |
