| Description | Col. David Ray, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, listens to a project status update during his tour of the Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway May 18. The auxiliary spillway is part of the Joint Federal Project, a $900 million cooperative effort between the Corps, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Central Valley Flood Protection Board, California Department of Water Resources and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, and is designed to improve the safety of Folsom Dam and reduce flood risk for the Sacramento area.
