Military Historian Author of several Australian Army Battalion Histories Neville Browning is a well-known Western Australian Military Historian. He is the author of several Australian Army Battalion Histories in World War 1. He has ten books in print and is working on his eleventh - a history of the 16th Battalion AIF. Bibliography Anzac Pioneers, 2nd Pioneer Battalion AIF The Green And White Diamond, 20th Battalion AIF Fromelles To Nauroy, 31st Battalion AIF Leane’s Battalion, 48th Battalion AIF For King And Cobbers, 51st Battalion AIF The 52nd Battalion AIF The Westralian Battalion, 44th Battalion AIF The Blue and White Diamond, 28th Battalion AIF Fix Bayonets, 51st Battalion AIF Gallipoli to Tripoli, 10th Light Horse Regiment - co-authored with Ian Gill. Publishing History Neville has been writing and publishing battalion histories since 1999. He edited the journal of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion ex-Members Association as a volunteer for over ten years. He also presents Western Front ephemera displays and lectures as a free service in Western Australia. Neville has also proof-read and edited many books for other authors, as well as supplying information and photographs for their books. Due to his expertise in the Australian participation on the Western Front, Neville works as a guide with tours to the Western Front (with Kokoda Treks and Tours), which encompass the Australian Army experience from Fromelles, Pozieres, Bullecourt, Messines, Passchendaele, Dernancourt, Villers-Bretonneux, Amiens, Mont St Quentin and the Hindenburg Line. For 25 years of service to the community, he was made a recipient of the Order of Australia in the 2018 Australia Day Honours for ‘Services to the Preservation of Australian Military History.’ Neville has also twice been nominated for Western Australian Of The Year for his work in the community and the free service he offers to anyone wishing to know more of their ancestor’s military service. He has lectured at The Weld Club, RUSI and numerous venues around Perth. Neville has a ‘day job,’ but also instructs in the Japanese martial art of kyudo, of which he holds third dan (sandan) black belt. He also has a third dan at seitei iaido. Neville is happily married to Nickola. He is a family man, with two sons (Stevie and Trent and one grandson – James).
