Achille Millien.

Achille Millien nait en 1838 à Beaumont-la-Ferrière dans la Nièvre, où il passe la plus grande partie de sa vie. Il s’éteint en 1927, dans le même village.

De 1860 à 1924, il publiera une vingtaine de volumes de poésies inspiré avant tout par son Nivernais natal.

À partir des années 1870, Achille Millien recueillera toutes les chansons, contes, croyances et coutumes qui vivaient encore dans les campagnes.

Pendant une trentaine d'années, il ira de village en village, accompagné d'un musicien, pour relever les mélodies et contes populaires. Il a ainsi collecté 2600 chansons et 900 contes.
