Summary

Description

Español: La necrópolis paleocristiana de Tarragona es un conjunto funerario de la época tardoromana de mediados del siglo III dC. Fue descubierta el año 1923 durante los trabajos de construcción de la fábrica de Tabacalera que está actualmente a su lado. Forma parte del Conjunto arqueológico de Tárraco, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

El área de cementerio cuenta con unas 2.051 tumbas que abarcan desde el siglo III hasta el periodo visigótico. Es el área funeraria tardoromana al aire libre más importante del Occidente romano.

El recinto está formado por una zona excavada al aire libre (protegida por una estructura metálica), el edificio del museo, unas criptas funerarias y una zona de jardines con sarcófagos expuestos al público.
