Description
English: The Holy Halls Nature Reserve (Naturschutzgebiet Heilige Hallen) in Feldberger Seenlandschaft, Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. This famous ancient European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) wood is among the oldest beech woods in Germany. Therefore one can spot large amounts of standing and lying coarse woody debris.
Deutsch: Das Naturschutzgebiet Heilige Hallen im Gebiet der Gemeinde Feldberger Seenlandschaft, Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Deutschland. Der berühmte Rotbuchenwald (Fagus sylvatica) gehört zu den ältesten seiner Art in ganz Deutschland und wird bereits seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts nicht mehr forstlich genutzt und seiner natürlichen Entwicklung überlassen. Typisch dafür ist stehendes und liegendes Totholz, das überall im Naturschutzgebiet zu finden ist.
