English: Brietzer Teiche
Nördlich der Siedlung "Brietzer Mühle" gelegen, befinden sich die Brietzer Teiche. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Feuchtbiotopkomplex, bestehend aus vier großen Seen und mehreren Flachgewässern. Die Brietzer Teiche sind heute ein Eldorado für Wat- und Wasservögel, Libellen und Amphibien. Die ehemaligen, durch Tonabbau entstandenen "Ziegeleiteiche" westlich von Salzwedel wurden seit Ende der 1990er-Jahre naturnah umgestaltet. Entstanden ist ein wertvolles Feuchtbiotop für Zug- und Brutvögel mit ausgezeichneten Lebensbedingungen für Wiesen- und Röhrichtbrüter – wie Rohrweihe, Bekassine und Wasserralle. An den Ufern schwirren fast 40 verschiedene Libellenarten durch die Luft. Darunter findet man auch solche Besonderheiten wie die Zierliche Moosjungfer und den Spitzenfleck. Seeadler, Kranich und Schwarzstorch finden hier ausreichend Nahrung. Im Winter nutzen nordische Gänse und Singschwäne die Gewässer als Schlafplatz. Auch Fischotter und Biber haben sich in diesem Gebiet wieder angesiedelt. Entlang eines Wanderweges finden sich kleine Vogelwarten und in einem großen Beobachtungsstand bieten sich uns einmalige Ausblicke auf diese außergewöhnliche Vielfalt. |
