Description
Deutsch: Der Name Iberg wurde von der Eibe abgeleitet, die sich bis heute in der Region erhalten hat. In Deutschland steht die einzige natürlich vorkommende, heimische Nadelbaumart auf der Roten Liste der gefährdeten Arten und wird nach dem Bundesnaturschutzgesetz besonders geschützt, da ihr Bestand im Laufe der Jahrhunderte stark dezimiert wurde. Im Kreisgebiet und im benachbarten Eichsfeld hat sie eines der landesweit bedeutendsten Vorkommen und ist hier fast immer auf kalkreichen Böden anzutreffen.

Das Naturschutzgebiet „Kalkklippen südlich des Iberges“ liegt im Stadtgebiet von Bad Sooden-Allendorf im nordhessischen Werra-Meißner-Kreis. Es umfasst die großflächigen Waldgebiete an den Hängen des Iberges und Hesselkopfes, entlang der Landesgrenze zu Thüringen. Als Naturschutzgebiet mit der nationalen Nummer 636028 und dem WDPA-ID-Code 163985 wurde der Bereich mit einer Größe von 47,3 Hektar in 1995 ausgewiesen. Das Naturschutzgebiet wurde in 2008 in das insgesamt 289,2 Hektar große Fauna-Flora-Habitat-Gebiet „Kalkklippen der Gobert“ Nr. 4726-350 integriert.
