Summary

[edit]
Description

English: nature reserve Eichholz next to the village Eglingen, Swabian Alb. The reserve was excluded from all measures of land consolidation, in order to preserve the historically small scales of fields with their multifunctional hedges for peasantry. To modern agriculture, however, these natural borders are considered absolutely useless obstacles. They are not attended anymore and in that case the woody plants often fade away. Only lately, it was by ecology, that the eminent importance of stringed stone and hedges as species-rich biotopes and habitats were emphasized.
