The 3rd USA Science and Engineering Festival, held in Washington, DC, on April 25-27, 2014, attracted an estimated 320,000 attendees. Visitors to NSF’s exhibits and stage shows eagerly engaged in hands-on activities and were amazed by the breadth of research and education projects supported by the agency. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh offered visitors opportunities to learn about the behavior, ecology and sensory systems of spiders--including what it’s like to explore web life in a spider’s (many) “shoes.” View a video on the exhibit at www.nsf.gov/news/mmg/mmg_disp.jsp?med_id=76249 .
