Description

During the last two weekends of September, the Kanab Field Office hosted multiple NPLD 2012 projects that were a big success.

The Vermillion Cliffs Hiking Club led another group of nine volunteers in improving the visitors’ experience on the Bunting Trail. The fence delineating the parking area was improved, a doggie bag container was moved to a more convenient location near the trailhead, and the kiosk signage was updated. The volunteers also maintained the trail, using rocks to keep hikers on the correct path and using hand tools to smooth gullies. Perhaps most importantly, a youth volunteer and two BLM employees hiked to the top of the Bunting Trail with hand tools and a heavy post pounder to install an archeological etiquette sign near a rock art panel that has been a target of graffiti in the past.
