Description New Orleans: Old style art nouveau New Orleans Sewage & Water Board meter cover at left, newer plain style at right, in old brick sidewalk. Less elaborate design was prompted by many of the covers being stolen as "souvenirs" in some neighborhoods starting in the later half of the 20th century.
