Description

1329 seal of w:Eleanor de Clare (1292-1337), suo jure 6th Lady of Glamorgan, 2nd Baroness le Despenser (1314–1337), who married secondly in 1329 William la Zouche, 1st Baron Zouche of Mortimer (d. 1337). Arms of Zouche: Gules, ten bezants four, three, two and one surrounded by three smaller shields of arms of De Clare, Earls of Gloucester, Lords of Glamorgan: Or, three chevrons gules. Possibly arms of William la Zouche, 1st Baron Zouche of Mortimer himself, as the arms of a female armiger are generally shown withing a lozenge-shaped shield.
