Description
English: The NJORKU as popularly known is a masquerade representing the elephant totem of the Bakweri people. It is typically found tagging with the “Malley” dance group; the most indigenous of them all. The NJORKU is only allowed in the presence of royalty or when important events take place as the case was here; mountain race preparation for Mount Cameroon.
Français : Le NJORKU comme on l'appelle populairement est une mascarade représentant le totem d'éléphant du peuple Bakweri. On le trouve généralement étiqueté avec le groupe de danse "Malley" ; le plus indigène de tous. Le NJORKU n'est autorisé qu'en présence de la royauté ou lorsque des événements importants ont lieu comme c'était le cas ici ; préparation de la course de montagne pour le mont Cameroun.
