[edit]DescriptionNIRCam narrow-band imaging of Jupiter, moons, and ring.jpg |
English: NIRCam narrow-band imaging of Jupiter, moons, and ring. PID 1022 demonstrated that JWST can track moving targets even when there is scattered light from a bright Jovian planet. At left is a NIRCam short-wavelength image in filter F212N (2.12 μm); at right is a NIRCam long-wavelength image in filter F323N (3.23 μm). The exposure time was 75 s. The Jovian moons Europa, Thebe, and Metis are labeled. The shadow of Europa is also visible, just to the left of the Great Red Spot. The stretch is fairly harsh to bring out the faint moons as well as Jupiter’s ring. |
