Description On 1 May 1822, 60 men from USS Alligator, USS Grampus, and the chartered ship Jane, captured 4 pirate schooners near Sugar Key, West Indies. Though the British brig, Cherub, a prize, was released, the pirates escaped during the capture. Rear Admiral Francis H. Gregory, USN. Photograph by Brady of New York.
