Description

The object in the center of this image is known as NGC 891, or the Silver Sliver Galaxy. It's located approximately 27 million light years from Earth and it can be found in the constellation Andromeda. We are seeing the galaxy from an edge-on perspective, and it is thought that this is how our own Milky Way Galaxy looks from that perspective.

Note: This was the last image that I acquired on the night of 10-17-2020. By the time I was imaging this, the wind had really kicked up so the image quality isn't what I had hoped for. But I always try to learn from my mistakes. I should have taken off the dew shield as there wasn't any dew to speak of. The dew shield was acting a bit like a sail, capturing the wind and making the telescope a bit unsteady.

It's still not a bad image, but it's definitely a target that I will revisit the next time I get to some dark skies.
