DescriptionNEC-TurboGrafx-16-Console-BL.jpg |
The TurboGrafx-16, a fourth generation video game console with 16-bit graphics. Released by NEC in 1989, it is the American version of the PC Engine console that was released in Japan. It retailed for $199 at launch, and faced off against the Sega Genesis that was released shortly before it. It did not do well on the North American market, coming in a distant third to Nintendo and Sega, even after multiple price drops. This photo shows the back of the console with the cover removed, showing the expansion port used for the Turbo Booster and CD-ROM drive add-ons. |
