画題：東海道五拾三次之内　神奈川　臺之景画工名：歌川広重落款：廣重画改印：「極」判・種類：大判、錦絵、横一枚種類 : 名所絵、風俗画版元：「保永堂」（竹内孫八）解説：街道を「神奈川台」に到ると坂道の海側に茶店が軒を並べている。どの茶店も、海側の二階に欄干のある廊下や桟敷をしつらえており、波打ち際の景色がすばらしい。この情景を、広重は画面右に描く。看板を掲げた店の海側には確かに軒提灯を吊した欄干が見える。客引きの女たちが旅人を誘う様子は、横顔とこちら向きを交互にして変化と動感を出している。その後を巡礼の親子が歩み、六部は坂を踏みしめている。坂の上には客待ちの女が佇み、こちらへ歩んでくる旅人も見える。画面の大部分は左に広がる海面と空で、小舟の配置、帆船の配置、印象的な「野毛」の二つの崖、遠景の本牧、そして、海側に突出した樹木の枝など、考え抜かれた画面構成であろう。本館所蔵の摺は雲の色が濃過ぎるが、近景海面のさざ波が表現する光と動感は良好である。この作品にも変わり図がある。水平線を低く、屋根の勾配を緩くし、樹木の形も変えている。（木村八重子）参考資料：『保永堂版　広重　東海道五拾三次』（鈴木重三等著、岩波書店、2004刊）所収資料名 : 『東海道五拾三次』(請求記号：寄別 2-2-1-6)
