Title
NCL-766286: A Roman earring made of two twisted copper wires.
Description
English: A copper-alloy ear ring of the Roman period, dating to the 1st-4th centuries.

The ear ring is an Allason-Jones (1989) type 5, which is a penannular ring made frm 2 strands of wire twisted around each other.

The 2 ends of the ring are very close together, only 0.82mm apart.

This object was found by divers in the River Tyne downstream of the Roman bridge at Corbridge. Furthermore, the anaerobic environment has preserved the natural lustre of the copper.
