Title
NCL-514866: Medieval harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy harness pendant of Medieval date, c. 1250-1450.

The pendant is shaped as a quatrefoil with a suspension loop emerging from the central edge of the top foil. The surface retains enamel with voids within it, suggesting metal insets which have been lost. In the centre of the pendant is a red enamel, outlined by a shield-shaped void, and with voids in the centre of the enamel that suggest a heraldic beast rampant of uncertain type. The foils retain a blue-green or turquoise enamel, with the upper and side foils also bearing voids that suggest they contained a lis on each. The reverse is undecorated.
