Deutsch: Nürnberger Gesellenstechen (Jost Ammann, Nürnberg 1561): Die Nürnberger Patrizier waren zwar keine Ritter im eigentlichen Sinne, trugen aber auf dem Hauptmarkt vor der Frauenkirche ein eigenes Turnier aus, um ihren vornehmen Lebensstil zu dokumentieren. Das dargestellte Turnier vom 3. März 1561 war das letzte seiner Art in Nürnberg. Die Reiter, die sogenannten Gesellen, befinden sich in verschiedenen Phasen der Vorbereitung und des Kampfes. Dazwischen bewegen sich Waffenmeister zu Pferde, Knechte in Narrenkostümen und Musiker. Die neugierigen Zuschauer versuchen, bis auf die Dächer hinauf einen guten Platz zu ergattern (Deckfarbenmalerei auf Papier, auf Leinwand aufgezogen, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum) |
