- description : This plate culture grew a smooth colony of Mycobacterium balnei with red pigment, silver fringe and peripheral flange. The culture growth occurs over 7-14 days, and is optimal at 32°C. M. balnei, also known as Mycobacterium marinum, is an animal-associated pathogen, and infection can occur following skin trauma in fresh or salt water.
