English: U.S. Army Maj. Syed Ahmed, a surgeon with the 67th Forward Surgical Team, performs the call to prayer during a Muslim prayer group meeting at Forward Operating Base Farah, Farah province, Afghanistan on Aug. 24. Ahmed is a devout Muslim and leads a weekly prayer group that allows fellow Muslims to practice and study the teachings of their faith in a safe and secure environment. Currently deployed to FOB Farah, Afghanistan, Ahmed is able to break the stereotypes he sees from both local Afghan Muslims (many of whom aren't aware of the existence of American Muslims) and from his fellow soldiers (many of whom believe all Muslims are terrorists or support terrorism).
