Description Mural monument in Chester Cathedral to Thomas Greene (d.1602), Mayor of Chester in 1565. His first wife, Ellen Brascye, to his right and his second wife, Dorothie Davenport of Calveley, Cheshire, to his left. (Heraldic Visitation to Cheshire, 1580). Left: Arms of Brassey (Per fess indented sable and argent, in the first quarter a mallard of the second), quartering Argent, an inescutcheon gules an orle of six martlets sable (? Brownlow: Or, an escutcheon in an orle of martlets sable; ? Lespring: Argent, an escutcheon in an orle of martlets sable); bottom: arms of the City of Chester; centre: arms of Greene (Gules, a lion rampant per fesse argent and sable crowned or and charged on the shoulder with a trefoil vert(Burke, General Armory, 1884, p.424)); right: arms of Davenport of Davenport, Cheshire (Argent, a chevron between three crosses-crosslet fitchée sable) quartering Argent, a fess gules between three (calves?) sable.
