English: Mulaipari is a women's ritual celebrated in Village Goddess Festivals in Tamil Nadu. The ritual is celebrated to get a rich harvest and plenty of rain. Especially, the Village Goddess Mariyamman is in her most original form a Rain Goddess. Normally, the Mulaipari procession takes place on the 9th day after planting the Mulaipari ( nine germinated grains, planted by a Mulaipari expert, usually an elderly lady).
