Description

Modell av mudring (rød pil) og tildekking (grønn pil) av forurenset masse.

Tildekking er å isolere forurensningen med rene masser. Dette forhindrer utlekking og oppvirvling, samtidig som det hindrer organismer å komme i kontakt med de forurensede massene. Metoden gir forutsigbare resultater.

Mudring er å flytte løsmasser på havbunnen fra et sted til et annet. Prosessen gir stor fare for spredning til vannmiljøet, samtidig som det forurensede topplaget igjen avsettes på sjøbunnen i etterkant. Derfor må det ofte tildekkes med rene masser etter mudring.
