Title
Mount from Swinhope
Description
English: Copper alloy

Mount (finder's identification). Cast sub-rectangular flat plate, waisted at either end; display face has curved edges, flat on the back. An irregular oval perforation set centrally bears iron staining on both faces, suggesting an iron rivet may have attached it to a strap or girdle, or that this was itself attached to iron. The size of the mount tends to associate it with medieval rather than earlier finds, though the waisted ends are unusual. Suggested date: Medieval: 1200-1350.

Length: 22.99mm, Width: 10.11mm, Thickness: 2mm, Weight: 1.75gms.
