Description
Français : L'existence du moulin aux abords de l'écluse de la Roussille, sur un bras de la Sèvre, est attestée avant la Révolution, selon documents d'époque mentionnant l'année 1786.

Il s'agit d'une annexe à l'abbaye St-Liguaire, paroisse alors indépendante, rattachée à la ville de Niort en 1971.

Ce corps de bâtiment, déjà bien équipé, comporte outre 2 roues -partiellement visibles sur l'image-, une écurie-étable, four et grenier à foin, le fenil. Les roues entrainent chacune une paire de meules, installées à l'étage. Le grenier accueillait une bluterie, lieu où la farine était séparée du son.

La propriété du bien navigue, au cours du XIXe, entre plusieurs familles de notables locaux. L'ensemble, avec grand passage couvert, prend son aspect actuel vers 1870, le logement du meunier étant, pour sa part, remanié à plusieurs reprises.

L'activité cesse définitivement aux alentours de 1985, après le départ du dernier ouvrier.
