"Look where we've all come from...coming out of darkness, moving toward the light." - Maya Angelou

As the world very slowly comes out of this pandemic, we also see the hope and renewal that are intrinsic in the natural world - sunrise follows night, spring follows winter, green growth follows wildfire, new life follows death. At Great Sand Dunes, the sun peaks over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains each morning to illuminate the dunes, cottonwood and aspen trees are beginning to bud, elk and pronghorn are giving birth, and birds are building nests. No matter what is happening in the human world, the diverse ecosystems of Great Sand Dunes continue on season after season.
