Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Monument to Peter Brotherhood Ltd Removed from the previous works and located outside the entrance to the new works. The three-legged object is a representation of the 3 cylinder radial engine that was patented by Peter Brotherhood and later adapted to power the Whitehead "automobile" torpedo.

From the stone:

"The stone at the centre of this plinth is a schematic representation of a three cylinder engine patented in 1872 by Mr Peter Brotherhood, founder of the company that now bears his name and which has been a world leader in engineering since 1867.

"From 1907 to 1994 the stone carving was above the main entrance of the company’s former headquarters in Lincoln Road Peterborough — less than two miles away. It was brought to this site when the company moved to this new building in October 1994."
