Tiré de l'ouvrage de Alfred Sandham: Montreal and its Fortifications. L'ancienne église Notre-Dame était construite dans un axe Est-Ouest, en fait l'axe de la rue Notre-Dame. La nouvelle église Notre-Dame qu'on connaît aujourd'hui est construite dans un axe Nord-Sud.

Alfred Sandham, (1838-1910), historien, né à Montréal. L'un des fondateurs de la Société de Numismatique et d'Archéologie de Montréal (1869).
