English: Monkton Up Wimborne, river source. What appears to be the source of the River Allen, a ditch next to Wyke Farm entrance. Traffic signs nearby warn of "Ford", so in winter, this must look very different. There are other rivers in Dorset that only flow in winter, when they are fed by aquifers; there are springs shown on OS between here and 1439679. |
