Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Molland Church, Devon, fragments of a 15th century gothic heraldic chest-tomb of the Courtenay family, carelessly re-assembled. (See: Pevsner, Nikolaus & Cherry, Bridget, The Buildings of England: Devon, London, 2004, p.572). One of the relief-sculpted coats of arms of the Courtenay family is now sideways. (Hoskins mistakenly called it a "curious double heart-stone, railed off, a receptacle for the hearts of a Courtenay and his wife" (Hoskins, W.G., A New Survey of England: Devon, London, 1959 (first published 1954), p.437).
