Modern Pipe Tamper
Description
English: Incomplete cast copper alloy probable pipe tamper of modern date. Only the decorative handle of the tamper survives. the handle is in the form of a female wearing classical dress with a child at her feet. it may be intended to depict Venus and Cupid. The handle narrows into a moulded circular sectioned stem below the feet of the figurine and is broken at this point. The tamper is dated c.1700-1900
