Summary

[edit]
Description We've seen enough Borneo longhouses in the Mari Mari Cultural Village just last night, haven't we? Be that as it may, a model of a longhouse is displayed in the Kinabalu Park museum. Notice the line of gongs in the foreground. These function as doorbells, and most longhouses have one, so that visitors can ring before they enter. Each of these gongs produces a different tone, and sticks are provided for youto find out for yourself. You have to bang on the bulge, the bulbous part at the centre of the gong, and sticks are provided for the purpose. There is a polite notice requesting you not to bang too hard.
