Celui-ci est un des plus anciens de la collection (1880-1885) : époque où Désiré Jorio importait les pièces de ses pianos du Piémont voisin. La table d'harmonie de cet instrument est couverte de graffitis de militaires français en garnison sur la frontière franco-italienne : "Classe 98 encore 123 jours". Il jouait la Marseillaise, comme l'indique le programme sur le côté, mais la mélodie laisse penser que l'ouvrier italien qui l'a fabriqué ne la connaissait guère... Ce devait être des pianos de ce type de modèle que le président Félix Faure a offert aux Alpins pour les divertir lors de sa venue en Maurienne en août 1897. ",
"​[In English: The owner of the Modane player piano factory, Désiré Jorio, was born in 1862 in Piedmont and arrived with his family in Modane when he was 11 years old. Advertisements of his hand-crank pianos can be found as early as 1889. He began by importing them from Italy in separate pieces and then assembling them at home; then he opened a factory in Modane-gare, which he then transferred to Chambéry in order to reach a wider clientele.

Meanwhile, Désiré Jorio launched into many other businesses: in 1911, he appeared in the directory as banker, emigration agent, transporter, forwarding agent, customs agent, player piano factory!

This is one of the oldest in the collection (1880-1885): time when Désiré Jorio was important the parts of his pianos from neighboring Piedmont. The soundboard of this instrument is covered with graffiti from French soldiers garrisoned on the Franco-Italian border: "Class 98 still 123 days". He was playing the Marseillaise, as the program on the side indicates, but the melody suggests that the Italian worker who made it hardly knew it...
