The natives also contributed $88 for achurch bell. In November, 1841, the building was com-pleted—a frame house, measuring thirty-five by seventy-five feet, plastered inside and out. A comfortable housewas also built for Mr. Alexander in 1837, before whichstood two noble kukui trees, which are well rememberedby his older children, both for their beauty and for theopportunity they afforded for amusement.
