[edit]DescriptionMiss Coddington (6357525871).jpg |
Adding this daguerreotype today (18 November) in honour of Louis Daguerre, who was born 18 November 1787. His method of producing an image on a copper plate with a layer of highly polished silver was one of the first permanent photographic methods. We believe that Miss Coddington was a member of the Coddington family who owned the land at the site of the Battle of the Boyne. The image has been hand tinted, and resides in a leather case. Just had to tag this one as Gorgeous! Date: Circa 1852 NLI Ref.: DUG2 |
