English: Painting of Stańczyk in Miłków Palace. Stańczyk who was the royal jester to Sigismund I, was the subject of a Painting by Jan Matejko in 1862 (now in the National Museum, Warsaw). In the painting, as in this apparent copy, Stańczyk was depicted at Wawel Castle engrossed in his thoughts and deeply concerned about the fate of Poland after learning of the Polish army's defeat at Smolensk in 1514 during the war with Muscovy.
Miłków is a village in Poland located in Lower Silesia in Jelenia Góra County , in the district of Podgórzyn. The Neo-Baroque Palace in Miłków was originally built as a baroque palace by Carl Heinrich von Zierotina in 1667. After a fire in 1768, the Palace was rebuilt by the then owner, Count Johann Nepomuk Lodron-Laterano and the neoclassical design of the façade and the emergence of the surrounding park were attributed to him. Further changes were introduced by subsequent owners in the nineteenth century. The Scotch Mist Gallery contains many photographs of historic buildings, monuments and memorials of Poland. Polski: Pałac w Miłkowie. Galeria Mist Scotch zawiera wiele zdjęć zabytkowych budowli, pomników i miejsc pamięci w Polsce. |
